What is Microgeneration?

Microgeneration is the generation of zero and low carbon emitting power and heat on a small scale, often generated by individuals, businesses and organisations and small communities. Microgeneration power and heat is often generated to be used at source by the people or businesses that generate it, although most microgeneration installations are connected to the grid, meaning excess power can be fed into the national grid, generating a cash income for the microgeneration producers.

Microgeneration technology is also often referred to as small scale renewable technology; with small scale microgeneration projects, or renewable energy projects, usually producing less than ENTER KW per annum.

There are a number of microgeneration technologies available to homeowners, business and not for profit organisations, all of which can be supplied and installed by Green Energy Consultancy Ltd. The major microgeneration technologies are:

  • Solar PV Panels
  • Solar Hot Water Heating
  • Wind Power
  • Micro Hydroelectric
  • Biomass
  • Air and Ground Source Heat Pumps

Each of these microgeneration technologies can be explored in more detail by clicking the links above, or by clicking the links in the left menu for more specific information about each microgeneration technology.

There are many different microgeneration technologies that are suitable for different sites, needs and budgets. Green Energy Consultancy Ltd can help you establish what is best for what you want to achieve, and can help you along every step of the way to producing your own electricity and heat.
